Baby Luke

Oh you guys, can we please take a minute to talk about how cute big siblings are with their newborn baby brother or sister.  Yes, I will be totally honest that when parents e-mail me saying they would like to get some photographs done with their 1 week old and 2 year old a slight wave of panic runs through my body.  Attempting to get a 2 year old to sit still can be exhausting in itself, but add a newborn baby to their lap and who knows what will happen!  But when it goes right, it is so good! Thankfully, I have met some pretty amazing big siblings these past few months and they are willing to love on their new baby sibling for at least a few moments.

Graham was such a rock star big brother during our time together.  I first asked him if he might want to hold baby Luke and he answered with a very direct and very polite, no thank you.  Oh no, I thought.  As we talked to Graham about how important his job is as a big brother, he slowly decided that he was up for the task.  He held his brother, laid with him on the floor and kept placing his little hand right on Luke's head.  These two are certainly going to be lucky to have each other.

The interaction between big and little brother was so sweet, and I feel so thankful I was able to capture it.  Welcome to the world, little brother Luke!

Wilson Family

I just adore the Wilson Family.  Nikki & Jake are another pair of Albion grads- I know they show up all over this blog!  Ted and Jake were in the same fraternity and Nikki and I were in the same sorority, and after Nikki graduated she came back to help coach the Albion volleyball team while I was playing, so our lives have been intertwined all over the place.  I have seen Nikki and Jake a few times throughout the years as their family has grown, but it was so nice to spend some quality time with them.

Their three little ones are off the charts cute.  They each have their own little personalities, and love to interact and take care of each other.  At different points during the shoot I heard their oldest daughter say, 'mommy, Miss Caryn is a really great photographer' and 'can you please wait a minute, mom, someone is calling my cell phone.'  Oh the personality!

We had to reschedule a few times because of the weather, but it certainly worked out for us!  The morning of their shoot a thick blanket of snow covered the ground, so we snuck outside for a few wintery shots and then made our way to downtown Rochester and used those gorgeous lights as our final backdrop.  Just like any good shoot it ended with frozen yogurt on a 10 degree day, because we all know I am a big fan of treats after a successful shoot!  Thanks so much for sharing the day with me, Wilson family!

Fox Family

I have been photographing the Fox family since I bought my first camera. They have grown with me through the years and it's amazing to see that actual growth in their little ones.  We spent some time reminiscing about their past shoots and we came back to our first shoot together when their twins couldn't even stand yet.  Now they are all-star athletes and dancers.  It is pretty amazing to see that growth and how it impacts my business, and I couldn't be more thankful for the families that have stuck with me through the changes over the years.

I am not ready for fall to be over, and I think these pictures perfectly capture why.  The leaves have been stunning this year and the warm weather that kept rolling in was unbelievable.  I never thought I would say it, but fall is really stealing a big piece of my heart that summer always held!  These photos were taken at Heritage Park in Farmington.  It is such a great location.  It has a little bit of everything and each time I am there I am surprised by a new gorgeous spot to stop during our time together.  Fox family, thank you for growing and constantly exploring new parks with me!

Conklin Family

Oh the cuteness in this blog post, please just prepare yourself for it!  The Conklins were an absolute dream family to work with.  We got together on one of those days when I was balancing weather, traffic, and 7 different shoots in what felt like 7 different locations.  They were so gracious to my texts and slightly changing schedule throughout the day, when I am pretty sure I sounded like a mad woman.

When we started their pictures a very dark rain cloud loomed in the backdrop, and you know what their little guy did?  He smiled.  He smiled the whole time.  I would give him a little peek-a-boo from behind the camera and he would just keep on smiling back.  I swear he never fussed or shook his head no.  He even leaned into me to hold him when I walked by him and would come up for a hug after different poses.  It was the best.

The colors were really starting to peak this weekend and I am so happy with how these pictures turned out.  I love capturing parents with their first little one, and this momma and dad have so much love for their guy it is contagious.  Thank you so much for letting me share in capturing the memories of this sweet stage of life with you, Conklin family.

Beacome Family

A few weeks ago I celebrated the two year anniversary of Caryn Ashley Photography. Well that wasn't an entirely true anniversary.  Long before I started working full time as a photographer I managed my business on the weekends, late at night or early in the morning. It started small and grew. New clients became return clients. And from those relationships my business grew to something that required my full attention. I left my career in marketing and became a full time entrepreneur.

The Beacomes were one of the families that committed to me long before 2 years ago. Actually they helped me buy my first camera! They gave me a high school job, where I let their dog out each day after school. That was a long time ago, and after my stint as a dog walker they invested in me by letting me photograph their family's milestones. And here we are now- I no longer have to dog walk to support my business and they have 2 beautiful little ones.

We had to reschedule their shoot when a grey Saturday rained on our first session, but the next day the sun broke and we had perfect weather. We explored Heritage Park together and enjoyed the early fall sunshine. When I see families once a year I am so surprised by how big their little ones get. I couldn't believe their oldest was already in first grade- so much to catch up on! Thanks for supporting me Beacomes, even when it meant babysitting your pup!

MacBeth Family

I get the chance to meet a lot of wonderful families in my career.  These families let me both share in life’s biggest milestones and capture quiet moments together at home.  The biggest compliment a family can give is to recommend me to their family and friends.  I have been lucky enough to photograph the MacBeth family and their extended family since I started my business.  It is so much fun to see the similarities between cousins and get to know the web of their family.

We captured these photographs at their gorgeous home.  The girls were so much fun and didn’t take more than a moment to warm up to me being around.  Grandma was there to help me get some giggles and she was such a big help.  We sang a lot of Frozen, played some peekaboo, and did a little bit of dancing- but you know, that is all in a days work around here.

Cregar Family

I have been photographing a whole bunch of little ones for their first birthdays lately.  It absolutely amazes me, how outgoing and sweet all of them are.  Bretton was no exception! He showed up with the biggest smile on his face and it didn’t fade the entire time we were together.

Bretton’s mom and dad were troopers too.  We had to have met on one of the hottest days of the summer.  Clearly it didn’t faze them since they look amazing in every picture!  I am so spoiled because I get to watch parents as they giggle and play with their little ones, and then capture the joy in their family.  The Cregars had a whole lot of love and joy between the three of them.  Thanks for letting me capture that for your family, Cregars!

Serbinski Family

The Serbinskis are one of those families that you look at and you just say to yourself right away, 'yup they are rocking this whole parenthood thing.'  Katie is due with her third little one this summer and still ran around with her guys and looked absolutely gorgeous while doing it.

We met for their family shoot at Booth Park and spent the whole time playing and exploring.  The boys searched for squirrels on the paths, fed the ducks, blew bubbles, ran through the tunnel at the playground and even took a ride on the cardboard slide.  They had to have been as tired as I was after all that!  These two little guys were so outgoing and it didn't take them more than a minute to warm up to having me around for their family fun.  Thanks so much for letting me share these special moments with you, Serbinski family!  Looking forward to meeting your newest addition soon!

Solon Family

These pictures are from a sweet Sunday afternoon shoot on Father's Day.  I met Lennon and her parents at Heritage Park in Farmington to capture a few pictures in honor of Lennon's first birthday.  Shooting on the holiday really reminded me why I became a photographer.  It is such an honor to capture pictures that will be cherished for a lifetime by a family.  While I never want to speed up time, it is fun to think that one day when Lennon says 'I do' a few of these pictures just might make their way into a slideshow or onto a memory table.  And thinking about that makes me feel so honored to capture these memories.

Little Lennon was all smiles during her shoot.  She wandered around the park and explored to her heart's content while we just tried to snap a few of her genuine smiles.  It was clear that her mom and dad absolutely love the new addition to their family, and they interacted in such a sweet and loving way.  And let's all be honest, it doesn't hurt when your family is this stylish on top of everything else.  It was a good, good shoot.  Happy first birthday, Lennon!

Baligian Family

I always have such a nice time when I get to photograph the Baligian family.  They seriously make having 5 kids look so simple (and growing up in a family of 7, I know the chaos first hand!) The siblings are so sweet to each other and I can't get over how their oldest daughter just loves on her little siblings.  She is a little momma in the making!

I joined the Baligians at their home for photographs to welcome the newest addition to their family, Ezra.  He was a little cutie and didn't make a peep the entire time- even when his toddler sister wanted to be all close and personal while he was trying to fall asleep. Thank you so much for letting me spend the morning with your family, Baligians!
