Newborn Photographer

Baby Wyatt

I have been so blessed to photograph this family since the beginning of their story.  Engagement pictures, their wedding, their first little lady and now a baby boy! As a photographer there isn't anything more rewarding than to walk through all of these seasons of life with clients. It is incredible to see how much Andy and Emilee have grown and to see how beautiful their family is!

I met Emilee at Albion College where we spent lots of time together- from playing on the volleyball team to being members of the same sorority.  Emilee is one of the most kind hearted individuals I have ever met and I consider myself so lucky to call her a friend for all of these years.  She and Andy also met at Albion, and that has made capturing their story even more special.

Their two little ones are simply the sweetest.  Addy has grown into quite the big sister. As you can tell from the pictures of her and baby Wyatt together, she is gentle and kind with her baby brother- something that is hard to come by in most 3 year olds!  She was so anxious to get in pictures with Wyatt and was the very best listener as she cuddled up to her baby brother.

Wyatt was also so great for his pictures.  He cuddled right up for his session, and decided to stay asleep for the majority of our time together- exactly what we hope for at a newborn photo shoot!  From all of those smiles in their family pictures it is clear to see, you are most certainly loved, Baby Wyatt!

Meadow Rose

I had actually heard all about this sweet family before we met.  I photograph some of their closest friends and throughout the years I had heard stories about their friendship and that they were expecting a little one of their own.  It is always so fun to feel like you know a family before you arrive at their home, and to have some similarities to chat about as you get to know each other.  Not to mention they were beyond kind, so I think either way we would have become quick friends!

Little Meadow made us work for her pictures, but it was so worth it! I love how many things the Shankin family included in the session that brought out their personalities.  Dad loves baseball and mom is part Native American, so including those two aspects of their characters made the session so personalized.  And as always, the pups had to jump in for the last few pictures.  To be honest, it was seeming like there was no chance we were going to get a picture of everyone looking at me.  Meadow was ready to be done, and the dogs were anxious to be up on the bed, but somehow it happened! That last pictures in this post just makes me laugh because if you could have seen the few moments of chaos leading up to it.  But it was so worth it!

Shankin Family, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to photograph your sweet, baby Meadow.  I hope you are loving every moment with your new bundle of joy!

Baby Douglas

Baby Doug was so great for his session.  I had to keep reminding his mom and dad, 'just so you know it doesn't typically go like this.'  I typically spend a lot of time during newborn sessions just cuddling and swaying newborns, waiting for them to fall into a deep sleep.  Doug was sleepy and ready for his session right when I arrived! A photographer's dream!

I loved getting to know Doug and his family.  His mom and dad made me feel like we had known each other for ages.  I love when I come into a family's home and I immediately feel at home, and that is exactly what happened at this shoot.  Their space was light and bright and made everything simple and enjoyable.  And when a little guy is born with a head of hair that awesome, it needs to be documented!  Katie and I started talking about if the wives tale about heartburn and hair is true.  I have been experiencing a good amount of heartburn lately, so we will see if that means our babe will come out with a full head of hair!

And of course we had to end the session with a few family photographs.  Which means Doug's two pups got a chance in front of the camera! They were so sweet around Doug, and even though they were so excited to finally be included in on the action, they were cautious and calm around their new baby. It was such a peaceful session with so much love, and I am beyond grateful to have captured this exciting time.  Enjoy all of your new baby snuggles, Kilbourn Family!

Ariana Phyllis

Baby Ariana, we are so glad you are here!  Ariana's mom and dad are in the small group Ted and I are blessed to be a part of at our church.  I remember the day Kaitlin and Nick shared with us they were expecting like it was yesterday.  Our group had gathered for a little evening pool party, and before everyone headed outside they shared they had a joy- a baby on the way! Since I get to see Kaitlin weekly, it was so fun to watch her bump grow throughout the months.

When we found out we were also expecting I immediately thought about what a blessing it would be to raise our little ones alongside Kaitlin and Nick.  Kaitlin has been so open and honest about mommahood, and I have already texted her with some of my more personal questions.  When can I go back to work? Is this normal? Is Ariana taking a bottle yet?  I am sure by the time our little one arrives Kaitlin is going to be so sick of hearing from me! ;)

I had such a sweet afternoon hanging out with Kaitlin, Nick and Ariana at their home.  In-home newborn sessions are just the best, as they capture what life looks like at your house right now.  I love being able to use your space to tell your story.  Kaitlin and Nick already seem like parenting pros, and little miss Ariana spent the majority of her session fast asleep.  Ariana, we are so thankful for your life.  We can't wait for you to meet your new baby buddy in July!

Ember Catherine

Teeny, tiny baby Ember! There is just something about those babes that are born extra small that makes my heart melt.  Ember was an angel for her session.  She slept soundly the entire time and just enjoyed being all snuggled up!  I still have to pinch myself when I realize this is my job! I get to snuggle newborn babes when I go to work?! What a dream!

Ember's mom and dad had the coolest style, so I loved being able to pop into Ember's nursery for a few pictures.  I also love being able to use a family's home for newborn pictures and to really capture a few candid images.  For this session it was being able to use mom and dad's room for those cuddly, candid moments. These are really the pictures you are going to look back at and say, remember when? I love knowing that this family will forever have these pictures of their first few weeks with Ember.  Especially since those first few weeks can be such a blur!

Ember already has three guard dogs, that I think are going to be taking pretty good care of her! It was so sweet to watch the dogs as they walked and moved more gingerly around the baby.  It is like they know this new little person is extra delicate!  They jumped on the bed with their mom and dad, but were careful to sniff gently around Ember and then of course went ahead and gave her a few big kisses! Welcome to the world, sweet baby Ember!

Smith Family

Oh goodness, how sweet is this family?! I got to meet these two older siblings last spring, and it was so much fun to reconnect with them and meet the newest addition to their family.  These two are so proud to be big siblings!

We started off our session with sibling pictures.  After we finished that part of the shoot, mom let the two older siblings know they could head downstairs to play.  I love that these two decided they wanted to stay with baby Lachlan instead. This sweet older sister even went and got her own baby doll and blanket and imitated each pose I did with Lachlan.  These two would get as close as possible to me just to make sure they had a close eye on their baby brother and all of the action.  It was so adorable!

Lachlan did so great during his pictures and was such a trooper with letting me change his swaddles and having two older siblings hold him and smother him in kisses.  He is going to be a tough one! And can we just talk for a minute about his hair.  You can really see his faux-hawk in the last picture! How cute is that?! Enjoy loving on your newest addition, Smith Family!

June Faith

We are so lucky we get to call this sweet little lady our niece! I love getting to photograph newborns, but when they are family it is just a little sweeter.  This little lady made a late arrival into the world, and we all anxiously anticipated her arrival. The wait was absolutely worth it once she finally joined the family.  She is the cuddliest little bundle of joy and we have loved getting to know her. She is the first grandbaby on Ted's side of the family, so it has been so fun to see their family adjust to having a little one around again.

June wasn't ready to stay asleep for her whole shoot, but I love the images we were able to capture when she was awake, too.  How adorable are those big eyes?! She and I got some extra time to rock and hum songs together while she fought sleep, so I will be honest I wasn't too mad that she wanted to stay awake and hang out.

Eve and Nathan are adjusting right into parenthood and are making it all look easy.  Watching them become parents has been so sweet and seeing how much they love this little lady is so encouraging.  June already has a schedule, sleeps through the night, and I will be honest I have never heard her cry- so they must be doing something right!  June, your Uncle Ted and I cannot wait to make so many memories with you as you grow up!

Crandell Newborn

Two little bundles of joy! Oh goodness how ridiculously sweet are Pierce and Everly.  I loved getting to meet these two and catch up with their mom and dad.

I have to be honest, when I go to someone's home for newborn pictures it can be a bit of a whirlwind.  They have recently arrived home from the hospital and they are trying to get settled in.  People have sent flowers, gifts and balloons.  Visitors and new baby supplies tend to have not found their proper home yet.  Which is always totally understandable, and comes with the territory of being new parents! I couldn't believe it when I walked into Kelly and Loren's home and it was so peaceful.  Like I kind of wanted to move in peaceful. They were both ready to go, neither of their little ones ever cried, and they had coffee brewing and even a few candles lit.  They made this twin newborn parent thing look like a breeze!

Everly and Pierce absolutely loved being cuddled together.  Everly had the tiniest smile on her face for most of her pictures with her brother.  And Pierce just natural curled into Everly when they were laying next to each other. Do you see how he sweetly he held onto Everly's arm in this second picture?! My heart! I can't wait to watch these two grow up together. How lucky they are to always have a built in best friend.  Congratulations on your two sweet additions, Crandell Family!

Sirhan Family

I love when clients become friends.  The Sirhan family is certainly one of those clients.  I started photographing them last fall and I have had so much fun getting to know them during our sessions throughout the year.  Each time I see them it is like reconnecting with old friends.  What makes spending time with them even more fun is watching their family grow! They recently added a new little lady to their family and I could not be more excited to share these images of her with you.

Big sister Emma was so great with Ava and gently held her and kissed her the whole time I was over at their house.  When we let Emma know that her pictures were done and she could go play she would hang out downstairs for a few minutes, and then I would hear her say," where is Caryn, where is Ava?"  She would wander upstairs, check on us, and then when she realized she wasn't missing anything too exciting she would head back downstairs to keep playing.  She certainly loves her little sister, and I can see the two becoming the very vest of friends over the years!

These four share so much love in their home and it is such an honor to be able to be a part of capturing that.  Enjoy all of the cuddles, hugs and giggles, Sirhan family!

Baby Colin

Welcome to the family Colin Richard!  This family was waiting to be surprised to see if they would be adding another brother or a sister to the family, and Colin made 3 boys! Whoa! Kyle is my older brother, and he grew up with 2 boys directly above him in our family, so I have to think he and Colin will have a special bond.  Both knowing how it feels to be the youngest of three boys right in a row.  This family is not only gorgeous but so thoughtful and caring.  We live close to them and I always look forward to date nights and stopping in to play with the boys during impromptu dinners together.  Living close to family is such a blessing for Ted and me, and living extra close to this family makes me feel particularly lucky.

Colin's older brothers Parker and Cooper are in love with anything sports related, so no doubt they are going to be so excited to be adding to their soccer team and golfing foursome. Colin is going to have to grow tough quickly to hang with this rowdy bunch!  After our family pictures Colleen let the older two boys go play in the backyard while I did newborn pictures with Colin right inside the house.  The boys still wanted to be close to the action, and kept coming over to the sliding glass door and knocking and waving to their new brother, showing him their construction tools, and yelling loud hellos through the door.  It didn't phase Colin and he slept right through their attempts to wake him up.  Trust me, sleeping through anything is going to be a wonderful trait as you grow up in a loud and crazy house, Colin!

Thanks for always inviting me into these special moments with your family, Millers.  We certainly love you all a whole bunch!
